Notre-Dame de Sénanque, a 12th-century gem of Romanesque art, stands near the village of Gordes in Provence’s Vaucluse department. After a few early morning GPS detours, my wife and I arrived at this breathtaking Cistercian abbey. The scene before us was divinely picturesque: a vibrant lavender field in full bloom, offering a tapestry of pink and purple hues that seemed to guide the soul towards the sacred abbey. Bathed in the morning light, the abbey and its lavender guardians resonated with a celestial tranquility, making our visit a truly blessed encounter with divine beauty.
