The Durbar

With the sighting of the new moon in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring countries, the first day of Eid (Eid El-Fitr) was celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025. In Kano and Northern Nigeria this is Sallah and the start of the incredible Durbar festival. The likes of which I have never seen. The Durbar Festival is an annual cultural, religious, and equestrian celebration, particularly prominent in Northern Nigeria, showcasing the rich heritage and traditions of the Hausa people, often coinciding with major Muslim festivities. We had the privilege of being invited by Emir Sanusi and his family. A man who is both humble and powerful. The images here are from various facets of this simply incredible festival.
