Hybrid Abstractions Series: The Shape of things to come

In the categories of Abstract, Contemporary, Surreal, and Photo Manipulation, my work contributes a perspective grounded in both technical mastery and experimentation. These hybrid compositions do not simply capture the world—they reconstruct it, reframing photography itself as a medium that evolves while remaining anchored in its physical origins.I am a visual effects photographer working with optical and mechanical processes to create hybrid images that merge camera, film, and digital editing. As the industry moved from film-based special effects to instant digital production, I chose not to abandon analog methods but to reimagine them. By combining motion control, composite masking, and in-camera exposures with digital refinement, I build images that bridge photography’s past and its future. This year’s theme, Framing the World, resonates deeply with my practice. My work reframes how we see the world by stripping away photography’s usual role as documentation and reconstructing it as an abstract, hybrid language. Synthetic and organic textures, shifting color variations, and layered composites dissolve ordinary subjects into new visual forms. What emerges is not a literal record of the world, but a reframed perspective—where geometry, movement, and light become the subject. My abstract renderings hover between mechanical precision and organic atmosphere, reflecting the duality of our contemporary experience: rooted in material processes yet transformed by digital tools. They challenge viewers to see beyond surface appearances and to consider how images themselves shape our perception of reality.
