Country / Region:
During late summer migration in southern Arizona, migrant hummingbirds fuel up for survival and preparation for "short" (300 or 400 miles) or long (2,000 miles!) migrations. Hummingbirds are small and highly maneuverable. Their wings go forward, back, and spin! The males are usually much more brilliantly colorful than females. I set up my Nikon Z8 camera on tripod at sunrise with my Nikkor 180-600m and waited for the feisty small birds to appear for feeding.
