Our guide led us through small villages on the foothills of Doi Inthanon, describing the way of life of the local people. As we passed an open doorway, I caught sight of a woman resting quietly in a hammock, almost hidden in the shadows of the room. For a brief moment, we shared a glimpse into a world that felt entirely removed from our own.
