Around the Fire

Photographed in Namibia, this image captures a quiet evening moment as three children gather around a small cooking fire. The flames provide the only strong source of light, illuminating their faces and hands while the surrounding landscape falls into darkness. What drew me to the scene was the interaction between them. The child at the center gestures animatedly, turning an ordinary moment into something that feels almost theatrical. The fire becomes more than a source of warmth and light. It creates a natural stage, revealing expression, movement, and connection. I wanted the photograph to preserve the intimacy of the moment without interrupting it. For me, the image is about childhood, storytelling, and the way simple moments can become powerful when light, gesture, and human connection come together.
