The Human Zipper

I was commissioned to capture an image of representatives of our local emergency services to help them celebrate emergency services day 2024. We had representatives from 13 different emergency response agencies including Fire, Police, Ambulance, , Coastguard, Lifeboats, Air Search etc. During the photoshoot I captured a number of images of the teams including their vehicles and lifeboats, but this image resonated with me above the others. The shadows of each of the representatives did not identify their gender, enthnicity or whether they were full time or volunteers. To me this represented the fact that it doesnt matter who they are or where they come from, but whenever an emergency occurs people of all walks of life will selflessly come together as one team to help us in our hour of need, risking everything to save us when we need them most.
