Chen Hanying, born at the turn of the millennium, is an urban observer and documentary photographer. A graduate of Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), she uses her lens to create works that resist forgetting. As a member of the post-2000 generation, Chen focuses on documenting the disappearance and rebirth within China’s ongoing urbanization. As a dedicated observer of urban transformation, she pays close attention to architectural changes and everyday life in old city districts, while also following and recording folk rituals in southeastern China. Guided by the belief that “the camera can resist forgetting,” she aims to build a visual archive that combines anthropological insight with aesthetic expression.
