The Baishatun Mazu Pilgrimage has emerged as one of the most significant and dynamic religious events in contemporary Taiwan. In 2025, over 300,000 pilgrims walked from Gongtian Temple to Chaotian Temple in Beigang, driven by faith, rhythm, and collective energy. Amid this massive movement, I chose to shoot with a fisheye lens. For me, photography is fundamentally about seeing. It’s not always about isolating a subject with a long lens, but about responding honestly to what my own eyes perceive. The fisheye lens isn’t merely a technical effect—it’s a way of feeling space. Its wide, curved view allowed me to embrace the chaos and cohesion, the human and the divine, all in a single frame. What might appear distorted is, to me, a truer echo of memory and emotion. These images are not detached observations; they are acts of participation. I was not documenting from the outside—I was walking inside the moment.
