The Gadawan Kura of northern Nigeria make their living on the road, performing with hyenas and selling remedies at the end of the show. The work runs through an extended family and animals grow up beside children, and children learn the animals before anyone teaches them to be afraid. Black and white strips the scene of spectacle and leaves the gesture: an old trade continuing, quietly, through a hand that has not finished growing.
