Knight of the Sea Whip

With every surge of the current, the sea whip sways through the darkness like the tower of a small, living castle. Clinging to its winding form, a saw-blade shrimp becomes its solitary knight. It lifts its armour-like head, raising the iconic blade-like rostrum as if issuing a challenge to any intruder that passes by. At first glance, the creature is almost invisible; its body melts into the sea whip’s muted colors and intricate textures. But when the current shifts, concealment seems to give way to ceremony. The tiny guardian rises, revealing a poised silhouette and a remarkable suit of camouflage. In that brief moment, a creature easily overlooked takes command of its vast underwater realm.
