Clambering down the hillside towards the river's edge, I peered beneath the 85-year-old stone bridge in Whatcom Falls Park to incorporate the gushing 25-foot waterfall in the photo. Whatcom Falls Park is located just within the city limits of Bellingham, Washington, in Western Washington State. The bridge was constructed by the Works Progress Administration between 1939 and 1940 as part of the New Deal during the Great Depression. Sheltered by giant trees, hiking trails run throughout the park. During the summer, locals enjoy the swimming hole downstream from the falls.
