Photographer's Profile
United States
Denneen Peterson is a photographer from southern Arizona. She photographs skies, landscapes, and wildlife of the American west. She started taking photos as a child and pursued photography off and on throughout her working life. She studied night photography with Erik Kuna and Ramtin Kazemi. Now retired, she heads out with her camera to photograph the natural world to show the preciousness of nature. The uniqueness of each subject interests her along with their interdependence. Her style usually tends toward minimalism, isolating subjects, but some subjects are best shown in their environment, so that presents a challenge for her eye. Her photographs won a Gold Award for Wildlife in the 2026 Muse Photography Awards; won the “Mammal” category in the 2026 South Florida Wildlife Center Photo Contest; have been in exhibitions at Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Arizona; Cultural Center of Cape Cod; Yeiser Art Center’s Art Through the Lens in Kentucky; Kavanagh Gallery, Fine Line Creative Arts Center, Illinois; and are in private collections.
