Photographer's Profile

Gilpin is an internationally recognised artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, painting, ink, sculpture, photography, and Polaroid. With an intuitive command of form and a fearless approach to process, he is widely celebrated for reimagining the nude in contemporary art—challenging conventions while remaining deeply human in his expression. Rooted in a classical training at the esteemed Jacob Kramer Art School (now Leeds Arts University), Gilpin’s work has evolved far beyond academic tradition. His pieces radiate raw emotional intensity and are marked by a visceral honesty that threads through every medium he touches. Whether working in the delicacy of pencil, the immediacy of ink, or the cinematic language of photography, Gilpin’s voice remains unmistakable—bold, soulful, and intimate. Despite navigating challenges with dyslexia and traits of ADHD, Gilpin’s creativity is unbounded. In recent years, Gilpin’s photographic work has gained significant international acclaim. After an Honorable Mention at the 2023 Chromatic Awards, his momentum accelerated in 2024 with multiple distinctions from the Fine Art Photography Awards, Black & White Spider Awards, and International Color Awards. That same year, he was recognised with a Silver Winner title and Honorable Mention at the New York Photography Awards, followed by further honours at the Tokyo International Foto Awards and Annual Photography Awards. 2025 marked a breakthrough. Gilpin was awarded four distinctions at the Muse Photography Awards—including a prestigious Platinum Award—and claimed six Gold Awards at the London Photography Awards. His work at the 18th International Color Awards earned six further accolades, cementing his position as a bold and original voice in contemporary fine art photography. His work has just been officially selected for the IPA 2025 awards.
